    Buying a new Wifi Antenna

Hey! I have a ASUS Z170I PRO GAMING motherboard with two Wifi antenna fittings in the back. And the antenna that came with the board has two fittings as well. Id like to buy a better antenna but all I can find is the single connection antennas on the web. Now, can I use just one of the antennas connections and not worry about the other one? Or do I have to use one that uses both fittings? -Thanks!

  2. I can´t turn on wifi

    Hi there,

That can only be 1 serieus issue. Your wifi antenna broke. Maybe your smartphone fell on the ground a time? You can buy a new wifi antenna and replace it on the motherboard. If you cant do this yourself let an expert do it.

    I hope this was helpfull!

One should be for WiFi and other for Bluetooth. One you don't use you can omit.

I would get two antennas. That allows you to position them for better coverage.

Could you recommend me an antenna? Or what style of antenna should I get? -Thanks

I would recommend an antenna with a cable so it could be positioned to a place more advantageous for good reception if router is not close by. It also needs to be antenna that can work with both. 2.4 and 5GHz or just for frequency of your router. I don't know where you can get them so can't tell you exact one.
    Some potential ones:
    2XDual Band 2.4/5.8Ghz 6dBi RP-SMA Directional Wireless Wifi Antenna - US$4.99
    RP-SMA 2.4GHz 7 DBI Wireless Wifi WLAN 5 X Range Booster Antenna Extender + Base - US$4.23

I think both are for dual band 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz antenna. You will have to check.
If you just put in one you lose ~2.5 dB instantly.
You need to move them around whether it's one or two. Away from PC metal boxes, is better than the ones with just a swivel/tilt plug.
You may get proper screw on connectors rather than the push in ASUS ones.
That is if you can find suitable items.

Mine also has a Wi-Fi module, one on the MOBO it has 3 sockets, 3 wires presumably to 3 dual band antenna.

  10. The dual Antennas are like y for MIMO support, Multiple-Input Multiple-Output. That's why routers have 2 or 3 antennas. It could be dual band, but dual band doesn't require separate antennas for each band. If you buy 5db or even 7db antennas you'll potentially get a better signal. In theory the higher gain antenna should be better, but it still coms down to location etc. If your PC is close to your router/access point normal 2db antennas should work fine. If far away the higher gain antennas may be worth the extra expends to get a good quality signal. An extension base may help too, https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_saca...on+base&_frs=1 If you can find them with the antenna included it may save you a few bucks.
