I'm not an MVP nor did I subscribe to TechNet, but I found this about the keys: http://www.zdnet.com/article/five-th...time-runs-out/

I got TechNet and MSDN as part of being a Microsoft MVP. I've done several reinstalls with those keys on my PC's with no issues. Always on the same PC they were originally used on. I went from Windows 8.0 keys to 8.1 keys but now that 8.1 will accept 8.0 keys I went back to those. I'm still testing and still an MVP so I'll keep using them. TechNet is dead but you can still log in to the site. You can't download any files or get new keys but you can look over the keys you have. I can still export my key xml file as a record of what keys I have. Anyway, that's all I'll say on that. I don't want to sidetrack the thread and take it off topic any further.

I'm using a copy of WIn8.1 that I got via TechNet and I'm eligible to upgrade to Win10 with that key/license.

Where did you read this?? I'm still using my TechNet copy of Win8.1 and I have no issues with activation and I'm eligible to reserve a copy of Win10.

not sure its been a few years ,but I think it was in the MVP program agreement ,or an email I received even, but again I'm not sure ,I could be just dreaming .lol

I'm not saying they don't and wont work ,I'm still evaluating them myself ,as are my employees, at The Friendly Key Society of Cape Breton *Roflmao2*Thumbs

I have Technet keys for both Win 7 Ultimate and Win 8.1 pro and have been running them for a very long time. Both have the Reserve Windows 10 icon and have a confirmed reservation. The Technet keys were for testing however they are good forever with the computer that they are assigned. I also have been running Office 2010 on one machine and Office 2013 on another. These are all valid keys.

I've even transferred the license from one PC to another with no issues.

  10. I haven't tried transferring the keys as I was allocated 10 keys for every operating system and Office etc. which are all perpetual keys so have never needed to transfer since I have more keys than places to put them.

I tried using WIn8.1(TechNet License) on my previous PC and then I decided to get a new one and now I use it on this one and the transfer was not an issue.

  12. I have used the Office 2010 key on different computers with no issue but at the time you could get license keys for every version of Windows so never had to transfer. When I subscribed to Technet numerous years ago they even stated that the licenses are perpetual but Microsoft had the ability to cancel them at any time. I don't know of anyone who had any license keys cancelled by Microsoft.

My TechNet and MSDN keys are listed as retail keys. Transferring should not be an issue. I have more keys than devices to use them on so I haven't had to transfer any. I still keep track of what key has been used on what PC though so I'm always using the same key on the same PC. Windows and Office.
