Windows 10: "C:" in the search bar

Hey guys! In past versions of windows, whenever I wanted to go to one of my many drives I would just hit windows key and then type C: or D: to open an explorer window in that drive

But now with the search bar being what you type in as soon as you hit the windows key, typing a drive doesn't "run" that command and it never even shows that drive in the search results.

I know I can do Windows+R to bring up the run box now but i'm so used to the old shortcut, i'm just wondering if there's a way to either have the drive show up in the search results or change the search bar into a run bar. I need to run commands way more often than I need to search for a file.

Search does not search my computer (C: )

We would like to know more information about your concern. For us to effectively assist you, we would like to ask a few questions:

• Could you tell us if you're trying to search Local Disk (C on your computer?
• Are you trying to search for it by typing (C on the Windows Search bar? If yes, we suggest that you try to search it by typing
  C: in the Windows Search bar and check if it will appear.

Search Bar/Cortana

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

• Right click on the task bar.
• Select the "Search" option.
• Select "Disable."

However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

Now run these two commands:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

IE11 Google Toolbar no auto search suggestions, no search history?


Since the last Win 10 update my Google Toolbar won't list any search suggestions as I type and there is no search history listed. The Google tool bar will allow a search, but after a few searches no search history shows and no "clear search" button is listed either.

I have turnd on "Suggest searches as you type", and "store search histroy on my computer" in the Google Toolbar options.

Any suggestions to fix this?
