  1. C: Windows drive and D: swapped. Windows confused and doesn’t boot

    Hello.

My C: drive which has my Windows files and my local drive D: swapped labels.
I tried changing it in Regedit using Microsoft’s guide, but no luck. Reassigning letters in DISKPART doesn’t do anything, either. In BIOS, no boot devices are shown.
After installing a Lenovo BIOS update and shutting down my laptop, the next day I power it on this happens. The exact same thing happened a year prior. Lenovo BIOS update -> Drives swapped around and confused Windows how to Boot. Last time I reinstalled Windows but I’d much rather not do that.

Used CMD to access Regedit and DISKPART. This is in WRE.

    Help is appreciated.

    :)

Windows doesn`t start. Authomatic repair doesn`t work.

    Thanks again!!

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

I ran SeaTools. These are the results:

Does it mean my HDD is useless?

  3. Windows 10 Doesn't Boot

Provided both OSes main partitions are still there, it's always possible to recreate the windows bootloader and the grub bootloader, one after the other.

If it's a matter of recreating your windows bootloader from scratch, here's how to do it.

From your Windows DVD / usb key, drop into console and follow those instructions:

You should be good to go, Windows 10 should boot properly.

Later you can reinstall the grub2 bootloader from a live CD, and let it manage the dualboot for you. This has been discussed here : https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...-win-7-machine-dual-boot.209395/#post-3229778

  4. C: Windows drive and D: swapped. Windows confused and doesn’t boot

No C: but D: drive has all the data

    Hi Austin,

To help you with your concern regarding the data on the drive C:, you're seeing the drive "C:" as the drive "D:" because you're booting your computer outside Windows. When booting your computer outside Windows, the system is reading the recovery partition
as drive C: and the data in the drive C: \ are listed on the drive D: \. Try to boot your computer and try to check again the data in the drive C: \ and see if the data are listed.

    Regards.
