Windows 10: Calculator stopped working and will not uninstall or reinstall Same thing with Microsoft Store

A few days ago my Calculator program just decided to stop working. It gave some sort of an issue where it suggested I redownload it from the store.I found this strange as a week ago the program was working just fine. So I tried to open the Microsoft Store only to find that it won't open. I can search for it in my search bar. It shows up. But when I click on it . . . nothing happens.So I decide to reset the Calculator app after looking around at online forums. Now the calculator program doesn't even give me an error pop-up box. It's acting exactly the same as the Microsoft Store app in that it

My Windows 10 calculator stopped working. I thought about uninstalling and then reinstalling, but the calculator is not listed under apps and features . How do I fix?

I figured out a solution that works even when deregistering (i.e. uninstalling) and reinstalling the App does not work. The problem is that deregistering the app does not remove the files, and so when reinstalling the app (whether from PowerShell or the Windows Store) the broken files are not necessarily replaced. Here are the steps I used:

1. Enable the Administrator Account (enter 'net user Administrator /active:yes' in PowerShell/Command Prompt)
2. Switch to the Administrator user account
3. Go to C:\Program Files
4. Find WindowsApps (the Windows 10 apps folder), then go to Properties and grant full access to your user account
5. Switch back to your user account
6. Go to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps
7. Look for every folder that says WindowsCalculator. For each of these folders, you need to go to properties and change the ownership from SYSTEM to your user account. Then grant full access to your user account. Then you can delete the folder.
8. When all folders are deleted, reinstall Calculator from the Windows Store. It should now work. (You should notice that this time when you download from the Store that the download is bigger.)
9. Disable the Administrator Account (enter 'net user Administrator /active:no')

Microsoft Store and apps not working

Summary

I am a Windows 10 user. Everything was working fine until about 1 week ago. Now Microsoft Store and all associated apps have stopped working.

Details

The first thing I noticed was Calculator app had stopped working. At first, that was the only thing malfunctioning. I could still enter the Microsoft Store.

Next, the Photos app stopped working.

Then, Microsoft Store itself stopped working. When I try to open it, the app briefly appears, then vanishes again.

Minecraft (which my son plays) has stopped working.

The malfunctioning apps simply won't open. Some of them have a (!) next to them in the Start menu.

I have explored the forums and seen that many others have had this problem. I have tried ALL the suggestions and they have not worked:

• re-syncing date and time
  
• "repair" the app
  
• "reset" the app
  
• WSRESET.EXE
  
• app troubleshooter
  
• uninstall and reinstall the apps (including MS Store) using powershell
  
• I have even re-installed Windows
  
• etc.
  

Nothing has worked. This is extremely frustrating. I have seen that other users with the same problem are not having their problem resolved either.

Apps that are not associated with MS Store are still working (eg. Paint, Notepad, Wordpad).

Can somebody please assist.
