Windows 10: Can a a non-bootable DVD Windows 10 ISO do a clean install?

Now I understand what's needed and how to do a "clean install. (I hope).

 

You really do need to make a bootable DVD or USB. You boot from that. Select the Custom Install option and then I think "advanced" and it will show you all your partitions on the hard drive/SSD. You highlight each one and delete all the partitions one by one. Then you highlight the unallocated space as where you want to install Windows and setup will create all the partitions it needs.

There is no need to use any external program to delete partitions or format the hard drive first and no need to use the command prompt in Windows setup. It can all be done very easily with mouse clicks in the Windows setup GUI.

Followed what you said. Ignore the antivirus warning (choose "Allow").
When reached a screen, that has "Full", I unchecked the 2nd item (install for all users), it became "Custom".
(Instead of "Full", it became "Custom".)

Imgburn ver 2.5.8.0 was successfully installed.

The next will be the harder part for me - to make a bootable win 10 ISO disk.
(I noticed that Imgburn has an "Advanced" button when clicked, one. can make the disk bootable. My computer uses the legacy bios, not UEFI.)

 

With many folks here holding my hands, I am successfully installed a fresh copy of Windows 10.
Reformatted the hard disk C:
Reformatted the hard disk D: (recovery disk)
Installed the Windows 10

Different folks helped me in different ways that resulted in my eventual success to create a bootable Windows 10 ISO, and to do the "Clean Install".

Here's how you can come close to a clean install. I've done this on a couple of machines.

First, do a clean install of Windows 7 or 8/8.1. Make sure it's activated and there are no yellow flags in the Device Manager.

Next, do an upgrade to Windows 10 by running SETUP.EXE from the install media (don't boot from the media, just run SETUP.EXE).

Choose the option "Save Nothing".

After the Windows 10 upgrade, right click on the C: drive and choose PROPERTIES, DISK CLEANUP, CLEAN SYSTEM FILES.

Finally run Cclean on the registry.

After this install you have a fairly clean Windows 10 install.
