Can a Win 10 64 bit boot disc be created on a 32 bit system?

I have a windows 10 64 bit computer which was upgraded from windows 7. I tried to do a restore but it came up saying unable to complete. Since then I have been unable to boot to windows. HP screen comes on and I am able to access Bios and Boot menu but that's where it stops. HP diagnostic tool at start says everything passes. I wanted to try booting from disc. I have another machine but its running windows 10 32 bit. Can anyone tell me if there is any way of creating a 64 bit boot disc from my 32 bit machine. Thanks in advance.

    :)

    Recovery Disk for Windows 10

I've finished upgrading three computers to Win10.

Two are 64-bit and one is 32-bit.

    I created a Win10 64-bit "Repair disc" and a Win10 32-bit "Repair disc".

(Per Don's advice [thanks]) I also created a Win-10 64-bit "Recovery drive" (thumb drive) on one of the Win10 64-bit machines (and on the 32-bit machine).

    My questions:

    1) Is the Win10 64-bit "Repair disc" good for both of the Win10 64-bit computers or do I need to create a repair disc for each one. (in other words create a repair disc on each one)

    2) Is the Win10 64-bit "Recovery drive" thumb drive good for both of the Win10 64-bit computers or do I need to create a Recovery drive for each one. (in other words create a Recovery drive on each one)

    3) 32-bit programs can be run on 64-bit machines. Does that mean a 32-bit Recovery drive will work on a 64-bit machine?

I think the answer to 1 & 2 is that one W10 64-bit can be used on all W10 64-bit machines. However, I'd hate to have a problem with one and find out I'm wrong!

    Thanks

  3. Windows 10 upgrade

    I'm currently running Win 8.1 32 bit.

    1) With the win 10 upgrade, can I choose to upgrade to 64 bit os or will it only install 32 bit?

    2) Assuming you can install 64 bit, will it move any existing apps under a new "Program Files 32" folder an create a new "Program Files" folder for the new 64 bit apps?

    Hi,

    And yes:
Just download the 64-bit media creation tool (using your 32 bit pc)
Use the tool to create a usb installation disk

Did try that. Selected the 64 bit option on the 32 bit machine but when I tried to run it microsoft stopped it saying it was wrong version.

Why are you trying to run it when you should only be downloading? *Wink

Can a Win 10 64 bit boot disc be created on a 32 bit system?

You can create a 64 bit disk from the 32 bit version of the Media Creation Tool (which is the only version you'll ever get to run on your 32 bit machine).

Just follow the instructions in Option Two in this post https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html and select 64 bit [or, indeed, both] at point 4.

The choice between the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the tool is based on the "bitness" of the OS you will be running the tool on, not the "bitness" of the Windows 10 version that you wish to download.

Get the 32 bit version. You can get the 64 bit version of 10 using it.

when the creation tool is run it defaults to up-grade this pc ,so you have to change to create instillation media fo install on another pc ,and then pick language and version ,32 or 64 , good luck

  12. Hello there! Wheelie1 besides the two screens already posted you will progress to the two available options of the next screen as well as the last where you can create a USB Installation Key or download the ISO which is followed by the last with the option to burn the selection you made to a blank dvd unless you went for the combination 32bit/64bit download which provides the choice of which kernel you will go with for the edition of 10 you selected. It does have to be the correct upgrade path as far as Home or Pro to see the clean install and activation take place.

Besides seeing the ISO disk image of the selected edition and better off single flavor ISO for each flavor you can use other tools for seeing a usb key made up including the Option Three method where you use the separate Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool in the guide for this.
