    Can anyone explain why some Windows 10 updates wipe out my BIOS settings e.g. waking up...


    Earlier this year I suddenly could not wake my laptop from sleep using the keyboard or touchpad. It happened after some Windows 10 updates. At first I couldn'tfigure out why this was happening but when I updated the BIOS the keyboard and touchpad wake up settings were back! I've just reinstalled the BIOS again after the most recent Windows 10 update. Does anyone know why this should be happening? The laptop is about 18 months old HP Spectre.

    access BIOS settings in Win 10

    I have an 8-year old computer running Win 10. I need to access the BIOS settings. It used to be the holding down the F2 key during startup would bring up the BIOS screen in Windows computers. But this no longer works. A web article listed a complicated
    series of steps leading to a reboot . . . but still no access to BIOS. Any suggestions?

    Intel Updates Core 2 Quad Q9550 to E-0 Stepping

    We continue our Monday news list with another Intel story that brings to our attention information concerning the company and more specificly its 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad Q9550 chips that will move from the current C-1 to the newer E-0 stepping. The updated chips will start selling on August 22nd, featuring the following changes:
    • New SSpec and MM numbers for the converting products
    • CPUID will change from 0x10677 to 0x1067A
    • Package change to Halide free package
    Apart from that, the new stepping CPUs will not include any other changes. Of course, like most new stepping parts a BIOS update will be needed.
