Windows 10: Can I Back Out Upgrade 1709

It`s a good idea to keep an Iso file of each version of W10 *Smile

That way you can install whatever you want. But you will still have to update. I was fond of the AU and held on to it as long as possible.

But we should try to fix your file history issue, what exactly is the problem ?

 

A neat trick that allows you to use an older version of Home AND still get all cumulative updates BUT not get upgraded to the next version is to install it in a Virtual Hard Drive. This is because Windows will not do build upgrades of virtual hard drives when natively booted from Host PC.

Of course, I only recommend this whilst the older version is still being maintained. You can still upgrade the VHD though by attaching it to a Hyper-V virtual machine and updating it. in Hyper-V.

With a little bit of effort, you can clone an existing installation into a Virtual Hard Drive, and add a boot entry, then delete existing installation

Unfortunately in your case, you are already on later version, and reverting keeping all data/programs is not possible but if you clean install older version in VHD, it will always remain on that version unless you attach it to a virtual machine.

 

Thanks for your reply. My File History problem is fixed thanks to feed back from a different thread. Turns out 1709 caused it to stop working, but all is good now.

I get regularly yelled at for expression my opinion of W10.
