    Can I delete the Data D: partition on windows 10


    Since I got my windows 10 PC I have noticed an extra partition on my HDD Hard Disk Drive called Data D: with some windows data and my other installed programs Do I really need this partition on my HDD or do I need it to run windows?

    PC reset deletes data in D-drive partition

    My PC comes with Windows 10 installed in the C-drive with another partition D-drive for data storage. I did a backup to D-drive before doing a "Remove Everything" PC reset. However, all data in D-drive was also deleted. Why does PC reset also delete data
    in D-drive and how do I recover the D-drive data?

    Delete my W10 Partition

    Do you want to safely delete your Windows 10 partition and use only Windows 7?

    If Yes, then boot to your Windows 7, run msconfig, go to "Boot" tab, you will see something like this :


    Can I delete the Data D: partition on windows 10 boot-png.png


    Choose "Windows 7" and click "Set as default", then choose "Windows 10" and click "Delete", restart if asked or necessary.
    Now the boot information for Windows 10 has been deleted and you can safely delete your Windows 10 partition (make sure no important files are on the Win10 partition). To delete and extend your partition you can use many partition manager tools.

    How to recover files off a HDD from a deleted partition? help!!!

    Thanks for your reply. I used my m8s program and it worked like a dream, recovered all the files and also deleted ones from yrs back, was amazed how well it did. Next step is i will use that Partition Table Doctor to recover the deleted partition. Thanks for the link *Toast :toast:
