Windows 10: Can I downgrade from Windows 10 S to 8.1?

I have recently bought a replacement ASUS notebook and find that the mandatory Windows 10S installation is extremely frustrating. The Edge browser stalls continually giving me an error messsage. I have tried lots of solutions for three weeks but none fix this. In addition I can't download lots of Apps I need such as Kobo for my reader. I can't even install the driver I need for my Samsung back up disk because, if it's not for sale in Windows Store, it can't be uploaded.


Give me back my old 8.1 and Chrome! It worked fine. How do I downgrade from Windows 10S to Windows 8.1? I know I could switch to Windows 10, instead of the Windows 10S that is already installed, but I don't think it will allow me to access other apps outside of the Windows Store either. So I prefer to return to my much more usable Windows 8.1

I would try these:

• Get your Windows 7 media device and reinstall Windows
• Try auto-repair
• Follow these steps:

1. Put in your Windows 10 media device, boot into the USB
2. Select your language and keyboard input, then click next.
3. Click "Repair this computer"
4. Go to "Advanced options"
5. click system restore
6. Select a restore point before you downgraded to Windows 7.
