  1. Can I download or revert to an older version of Paint?

I have been using Paint for some time to do very simple, basic edits which essentially amount to cropping and arranging in a collage. Since i'm really not doing anything complicated, I don't see the point in investing in a better drawing app, however the recent updates have made my extremely simple edits overly complex and tbh I still haven't managed to complete a single collage. again, what I'm doing is basically just pasting images into a collage, which goes like this:zoom out far enough that I can fit all the images on the page > select > import image > place where I want it > i

    Art,

I was not suggesting using the Command prompt for the job you want to do.

Use File explorer then you'll be able to access the properties of that shortcut. I suggest copying it to your Desktop to do any alterations then copying it back afterwards [for which you'll be challenged to give Admin permission to proceed].

    Can't download Paint 3D

    Hi,

We would like to know the following information to better assist you:

    - What is the version and OS Build of your Windows 10?

    - Where are you trying to download Paint 3D?

    - Did you receive any error message when trying to download the app?

    - Can you narrate the troubleshooting steps that you’ve done to address this issue?

If you are using Windows 10 version 1709, Paint 3D should be available by default. We recommend that you have run the wsreset.exe to clear and reset Windows Store cache and try to download the Paint 3D from the Windows Store. You can
    follow the steps below:

    • Open the Run box. Press and hold the Windows Key + R.
    • Type WSReset.exe
    • Click on Run as administrator

Keep us posted for further assistance.

  4. Can I download or revert to an older version of Paint?

Replacing the default MS Paint with an older version (Revisited)

    Thanks

Just to be clear, I want to REPLACE the 'new & improved' MSPaint that comes with Windows 10 and started with version 1903 from may 2019 onwards with the previous version that worked fine & didn't need 'improving'.

Would what you have linked to, offer this REPLACEMENT or would I have to uninstall the 'new & improved' version of Paint first and then install my preferred (older) version?

Regarding Winaero Tweaker - again, enabling 'Classic Paint' as shown in your screenshot - would that be a 'one-stop' solution??

I tried the Winaero Tweak - ticking the 'Enable Classic Paint' checkbox. Couldn't see a 'Save' button so I presume this takes immediate effect or do I need to restart the pc? Checking 'Paint' it still behaved as the N&I version.

Specifically what bugs me about the 'new & improved' MS Paint - henceforth referred to as N&I Paint is the use of the TAB key to skip from one adjustment 'handle' to another on the outside of a text box instead of tabbing the text inside as you would expect (or more explicitly, foisting this change on us without giving us the option to use TAB in the new way or the 'old' way) and the 'acceleration' that happens when a selection area is being moved around the work area using the cursor keys.

Why the good folks at Micro$oft can't (a) give us the option to choose the action of the TAB key and (b) have the 'acceleration' feature to be something that happens when, for example, the SHIFT key is held down together with a cursor key or, if the SHIFT key is not held down, this 'acceleration' doesn't happen.

Whilst I'm commenting on how Paint works (be it the N&I version or the 'Old' version), why can't the 'Select' drop down make it clear if 'Transparent' or 'Opaque' is set.

Finally, why restrict the 'Zoom' to 25% steps between 25 and 100% and 100% steps between 100 and 800%??

    Cheers,

    Art
