    I suggest you to refer to the below methods and check if it helps.

    Step 1: I suggest you to run Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter.

    Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter find and fix problems with playing DVDs in Windows Media Player.

    Steps:

    • Press Windows key, type troubleshooting
      and select it.
    • Click on View all in the left pane.
    • Click onWindows Media Player DVD and follow the onscreen instructions.

    Also Refer to the section Rip and burn CDs from:
    Windows Media Player

    Step 2: I suggest you to refer to the Microsoft help article about:

    So how did Windows 10 destroyed your DVD drive?
    Have you tried to install the drivers from the maker of your DVD? also when posting it would help if you provide some info about your system, as I have done well over 400 upgrades and installs of Windows 10 both Public and Insiders and haven't had any CD/DVD
    drives get "destroyed" I have at time needed to find the proper drivers and install a media player.
