  1. Can I get rid of that ridiculous Windows 10 photo program?

The one just listed as PHOTOS in the program list, and the one that gathers up all my graphics wherever they are, organizes them as it sees fit, and then scatters new folders around in groups under dates only it has selected on its own? With Windows 10 Microsoft has become extremely intrusive and controlling. I, for one, find this kind of behavior very troubling and dangerous.

    :)

  2. How do I get rid of the stupid ridiculous lock screen and sign in page from my personal computer??

I have tried 3 different ways so far that I have found on forums to get rid of the stupid ridiculous lock screen and sign in page from my personal computer - 1 that should be a simple fix in settings and 2 that were registry fixes. Nothing seems to get rid
    of it.

It is irritating and very unnecessary and I find it offensive that I am forced to constantly verify my identity to use my own personal computer, in my own house.

There must be a way to get rid of it - this business of "leave feedback" - obviously nobody is listening are they Microsoft! There are a million posts about this problem but you still haven't fixed it! Passwords should be a matter of personal choice - if
someone chooses to not use password protection on their... well anything! it should be their own problem or not at as case may be.

So Microsoft - either fix it or tell us how we can fix your stupidity. At this point Windows10 has been nothing but a HUGE step backwards, I have not found a single thing that is of benefit to me that I didn't already have in Windows7.

Hi, rather than removing the program, change the option:

Can I get rid of that ridiculous Windows 10 photo program? [IMG]

    - so it looks nowhere and catalogues nothing.

I agree, the default behaviour is annoying. As I don't use the default library folders on C: for my personal data (it's separate from the OS on a different partition) I never encountered this as a problem.

Note that Photos will be reinstated on
    a. Any major upgrade
    b. An in-place upgrade repair install

So it's better to change the option.

  6. Don't understand what you're saying in purple highlighted parts. I got the uninstall part and am about to try it.

  7. When I got to Settings/System/Apps&Features -- the Ms Photos MOVE and UNINSTALL buttons are grayed out. I was able to change the source from ALL to just one drive. At least that's an improvement.

Sorry. Within the tutorial link, in option two, there is a command that you enter into Windows Powershell. It only impacts current account signed into windows.

Create a restore point..... type create a restore point into cortana search bar, at the top it should show you option Create a Restore point, control panel, click on this. In window that opens click on create, assuming restore points are enabled. Restore Points are copies of your registry. You make them before you make changes to your device so if something goes wrong you can do a "System Restore" to an earlier point in time. If they are not enabled, enable them and get into a habit of creating. Also recommend Marrium Reflect to image, for free, your system. Some reading involved but in a disaster it is a life saver.

The second link takes you to a process that removes the app from all accounts. If you look at command you will see a version number. To issue the command you need the right version number.

It may be better as @dalchina suggests to just change app defaults.

My PHOTOS does that too, but it doesn't rearrange the actual folders, looking at Pictures in File Manager shows they are all still where I left them. The 'Year/month' albums you see in PHOTOS are just its own internal index to what it has found.

I just ignore PHOTOS and use the old Windows Photo Viewer as my default app for viewing images.

  10. Okay, thanks, I sort of thought that's what you were getting at with the Restore Point reference, just not sure. I am in the process now of learning to create boot/restore disks after decades of doing it that hard way , wiping drives and reinstalling everything from scratch. Better late than never.

I guess I'll wander into Power Shell. Not too much different than MSDOS is it? Just one question: What is that command line about "GetApps. . . . " what is that all about?

Hmmm, I actually did that but have yet to check the results. I 'll edit this post if it worked and tag the thread Solved. That is a pretty neat feature in this forum.

  11. Not to be difficult but not sure how coders turned caffeine in code syntax.

If Brink says that is the command, that is the command.

Look at the first post here by Kyhi. The ultimate boot fix disk.

For Images of systems, so you can go back to a working version check out Macrium Reflect, free and highly recommended by members.

  12. I had to go to glossary to even understand what you/Kyhi are talking about. Having done so, I got the picture of what PE is all about. Thanks

As for the first statement, I'll leave that one alone.
