Can I migrate Windows 10 system disk to a different OEM licence?

My PC motherboard just died, with what I believe was an OEM Windows 10 licence on it. I want to migrate the drives and ideally the whole Windows 10 setup (including apps) to my new machine, which will also have an OEM Windows 10 Licence on it. I believe that if I simply plug the old Windows boot drive into the new machine/motherboard it will allow me to run an restricted/unactivated version of Windows 10, but is there any way that I can use my new OEM key to re-activate the system, so that I can pick up where I left off?

    :)

Two OEM licence keys (different Windows versions) on one PC

    Hello,
I'm in the process of building another PC and I want to know if it's possible for two versions of Windows to reside next to each other legitimately. I would have windows 7 and 10 as a dual-boot system. So if I buy OEM keys and activate them would one de-activate the other? I know that OEM licence keys are bound to the mobo and are irrevocable. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  3. WINDOWS 10 OEM licence legal and not

    Hi Dmitriy,

    there are two different things.

One is possibility to install OEM by yourself for your own use. In general this is prohibited by OEM system builder licence. AFAIK only two countries allow to do this.

The second, OEM Windows may be distributed only in two forms: preinstalled on hardware and as OEM pack with DVD disk, sticker with product key, and system builder licence agreement at the back of envelope.

If one buys something else he does not get Windows licence.

It is legal to buy anything else, the keys, the stickers and so on but such purchase does not give a rights to use Windows, it will be illegal.

Can I migrate Windows 10 system disk to a different OEM licence?

Windows 10 OEM licence and activation

    Hello,

I have several questions the licence and activation:

Can you legally buy used (and decactivated) windows 10 OEM licences and use them with a PC different from what it was supplied with?

Lets assume I bought such licence and the activation was successful on such a machine - does it mean I can continue and legally use the OS?

I read that there was a 'system builder' clause when using OEM licences that lets you transfer said licences to different machies if you take the OEM responsibility on yourself.

If it's not possible with windows 10 OEM is it possible with any other OEM version of windows such as windows 7 or 8?

    Thanks,
