    Can I "print to jpg / png ? "

I find that In windows every time I try to print something there is a great option -- Print to PDF

I wonder if I can print to jpg or png too ?

What is the best and the most official advice of doing this? Does it require third party software?

Note: I don't want to do this with free online PDF to image converter because I don't want my files to be recorded or archived by the provider of the service

    :)

Windows 10 Microsoft Photos App Not Printing JPG, PNG

Windows 10 Microsoft Photos App Not Printing JPG, PNG

    Hi,

I am using Windows 10 Enterprise 1511. We have discovered Microsoft Photos App is not Printing JPG, PNG files.

Upon observation the print job is not reaching the printer? I have checked see what's printing dialogue box.

If I print the same jpg, png via paint, word etc, the photo is printed.

    Is this a known issue?

    CAN SOMEONE HELP PLEASE?

  3. save pics ONLY as .png INTENTIONAL? NO fix from Microsoft!

Lossy JPG has more compression and more data loss, whereas PNG is lossless so larger but zero data loss. JPG results in data loss every time you edit and save, while PNG can be edited any number of times with zero loss. They have different uses and either
one can be considered "better" depending on one's requirement.

The .jpg and .png formats are for images/pictures. Print to PDF creates a document as a .pdf/Portable Document File. I find the best thing to do with images is to save them then use a graphics editor such as Paint/MSPaint, Paint3D, GIMP, etc., to work with them. If it's something on the screen you want press the PrntScrn key [on the keyboard], open one of the programs I mentioned or any other program such as a word processor, press Ctrl+V to paste the contents of the Clipboard then save or manipulate as desired. Paint can be found in Start, W section, Windows Accessories but be aware that Microsoft is pushing toward the replacement of Paint3D.

Quick questions: (they can be useful to know to actually find a really good method without having to download other software)

    Do you use:
    • Google Chrome? If not, what internet browser?
    • Microsoft Word? If so, what version?

I use the Windows built in Snipping Tool to simply take a snip-it of the text/page and then save as a JPEG or PNG. "Print to PDF" is good, but sometime a simple JPG is preferred for various reasons, or print is not available from where you are at.

There's another app in the Windows Store that is also some sort of PDF to Image converter. Check it out to see if it has better quality exportations.

Print to PDF means that there is a PDF printer installed on your computer under Devices and Printers like the Microsoft Print to PDF option, or the full version of Adobe Acrobat. Meaning you can send a document as a print job to this PDF printer and it will create a PDF file from the document.

So you want a windows printer that creates a .jpg file? It looks like there are at least two programs that do this:

    • Free PDFCreator creates a windows printer that can
"Convert your Documents to PDF, JPG, PNG, TIF and more"
    • Paid-for ImagePrinter Pro
"ImagePrinter Pro is the most complete solution for conversion of any documents into: JPEG, JP2000, PNG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, SWF, RTF, XLS, PDF, DjVu or HTML formats."

You can print to .tif using the fax and go from there

Steps (Microsft Word 2016, should be the same for most programs)
-Print as normal but select fax
-On the "Fax Setup" window press cancel and ignore the error popup
-On the "New Fax" window right click the attachment and select open
-This should open "Windows Photo Viewer" (or relivant default program) press "File" and select "make a copy..."
-You now have a .tif of your document, you can now use paint or similar to convert the .tif into another format.
