I would not of thought to use Macrium to Swap partitions .....nice tip !

I think you can only Merge partitions if they are next to each other and in this case you have all those extra recovery partition in the way. My guess they are from Windows 8 and the Upgrade to 10 and can be deleted too after running some checks too see if Recovery is enabled and which Partition it is using though. I have not seen a 1023mb Recovery partition before ,win10 should be using the 450mb one, which is normal partition 1 (see below)

At an Admin Command Prompt to see if Recovery is enabled and which partition it is using type:

    reagentc /info

and you should see something similar to this......

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>reagentc /info
Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) and system reset configuration
    Information:

    Windows RE status: Enabled
    Windows RE location: \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition1\Recovery\WindowsRE
Boot Configuration Data (BCD) identifier: 74d215eb-698f-11e6-a476-bf872fb1eaaa
    Recovery image location:
    Recovery image index: 0
    Custom image location:
    Custom image index: 0

    REAGENTC.EXE: Operation Successful.

Here, it is quite easy - install minitool partition wizard free

delete the 350 MB recovery partition (W10 recovery partitions are 450 Mb).

Move 450 mb partition to right far end.

Extend C drive to fill space.

IF you move the Recovery Partition , you will need to re-register it's location with Windows 10 with reagentc again

I believe MiniTool will update the partition data to reflect that. Last step of "Apply".

I am sorry but this is incorrect. The Recovery environment is based on the order of the partition #. If you move the Recovery Partition, your PC still boot but the Recovery Environment will be broken. You must use RecAgentc to point it to the new partition # (Counting from left to right), partition wizard does not update this info.

Will I have any problem since my unaffiliated GB does not have D drive on it any more?

NO it will boot no problem , you just can't use Recovery Modes like Reset this PC etc until you fix it with Reagentc. see my post above on how to.

Your D:\ was an OEM Recovery Partition not a Windows Recovery Partition , so it won't effect you unless you move the Windows Recovery partition , which you need to do if you want to Merge the Old D: space back into C: and also get the space back from the old un-used Windows Recovery partitions

you should remove all the un-needed partitions 1st though..... or your partition no# maybe wrong and you will need to do it again.

WOW!!! I'm really not computer literate enough to even follow your instructions. I just followed topgun's instructions to get rid of the Win. 8 on D drive, and it now 17. dome GB unaffiliated. Now I don't know what I will do if I have to do a recovery on this computer.

What am I going to need to do, if I would need to do a recovery, since my D drive is no longer there and all I have is 17. some GB that is unaffiliated. It's still in the same position, but with no name that it's a recovery drive. Am I up the creek? I made a recovery point after I downloaded the Anniversary Update a day or 2 ago. Can I use that to recover the drive D?

You are good , it was NOT the Window's recovery partition you deleted..... no panic there....your ARE FINE *Smile

You just deleted the HP Windows 8 Recovery Partition is all.

Depending on what you do now you may or may not need to reset it ............

probably a bit too much information in your situation but if all you are going to do is create a new 17gb partition and use it as D:\ then you are ok, just do that and you will be good. Use disk Management or MTPW which is excellent and free too.

If you want to delete other partitions etc to get space back and merge everything to C: then you will need to deal with the Recovery Partition location and it being set in windows 10 correctly using Reagentc.exe

Yes, it was the HP Windows 8 Recovery Partition. Am I OK with not naming that partition and leaving it with "Unaffiliated"? I plan on leaving those 17 GB just like they are, because I have a 2T hard drive. It is still at the same position just like it was, but without a drive name. I can't rename it with Disk Management, I don't see a place to do that, if I right click on it.
