Windows 10: Can I run this graphic card with my PSU?

Will that be pushing it though? What do you think? Will it be worth it??

Worst is you'll have to buy another psu

I usually buy local for psu's at micro center I hate getting them shipped.
EVGA has the best I believe

Being you now have a 480w I wouldn't worry about it yet though you're only 20w short which probably is not a big deal *Smile

He may a 480W PSU, but is a cheap POS. And bobkn I'm sorry but that 600W one you linked to is an even bigger POS that I wouldn't trust to power a light bulb. Do you really want to trust your system to something like that?

The PSU is the heart of the system. Without a decent power source you are asking for all kinds of potential problems.

Oh and there is a world of difference between a HD 6670 and a HD 6850. The HD 6670 is only a couple of steps up from the bottom of the budget/basic card, where the HD 6850 at the time of release was a high mid range card,

As far as a the size of a power supply goes ThrashZone is correct in that a 480W PSU is more than enough for the HD 6850 (I still have one running in my son's computer on an Antec 500W PSU). The thing is that is needs to be a decent quality PSU. Something like this,

EVGA 500B Bronze Power Supply - ATX12V Efficiency - 500 W - Newegg.com

would be about the minimum that I would recommend (had a look at the sub 500W PSU's on Newegg, and the majority are garbage).

 

You missed my point. I listed a good 450W PSU, and a cheap "600W" one. The cheap "600W" one isn't as good as a real 400W one. The stated power specs on PSUs have to be regarded with suspicion. When the graphics card maker recommends a PSU wattage, that's a poor way of spec'ing it.

The 6850 is a lot better than a 6670, but the 6850 is still a 7+ year old card. It's not comparable to more up to date cards in terms of performance and power usage.

It wouldn't make a lot of sense to spend a lot on a PSU just to support it. However, getting a good PSU can be a long-term investment. I have a PC Power and Cooling 750w "Silencer" in my secondary PC that is at least 10 years old.
