    Can I start from scratch?

I’m installing a new SSD C-drive that I will format and configure.

My laptop has one HHD drive (partitioned into two parts, D-drive and E-drive) that I want to backup, wipe clean, and then reinstall—much more neatly this time—the programs I want and the data I need.

To do that I created two folders All files on D-Drive and All files on E-Drive on the D and E drives respectively. My plan was to back up both these ‘All drives on…’ directories and restore from the two backups the files I wanted.

There were some folders on the root of these drives that I didn’t want to backup. They seemed folders/files that were generated by the computer (not by me, to my knowledge), namely:

D-Drive: System Volume information (Access Denied); MSOCache (87 files/19 Folders 686 MB /All Users/[a bunch of folders holding mostly .msi files that seem related to MS Office apps] ); WUDownloadCache (969 files/2 folders mostly .esd, .cab, and .xml files)

E-Drive: System Volume information (Access Denied); Windows10Upgrade (6.45 GB two .esd files); and the $Recycle.BIN (which I was surprised wasn’t on the C-drive)

Would there be any harm in deleting these Folders/Files, or to be more direct, would I lose anything of importance by reformatting and re-partitioning the HDD drive?

    Thanks

  3. EVGA GTX 2xx series Reinbursement Service

XFX started it and Evga is doing the same. Evga is starting its own reinbursement program for those who bought the Evga 2xx series when they first came out. All you have to do is follow a few steps.

    • Must be a new purchase from an authorized EVGA reseller. Step-ups do not qualify.
    • You have 14 days to register and upload a qualified invoice to claim your EVGA Bucks.
    • Only customers who purhased the EVGA GTX 280 or GTX 260 at the full Manufactured Suggested Reatil Price (MSRP) will qualify for the Reimbursement Program.
    • If between June 16th and July 7th you purchased an:
    • EVGA GTX 260 you will receive $75.00 in EVGA Bucks* or $60.00 Cash Back
    • EVGA GTX 280 you will receive $150.00 in EVGA Bucks* or $125.00 Cash Back
The only thing this doesn't cover is the Step-up program. I'm fine with that because I got the price cut anyway. I just hope to get the card by this weekend if not early next week. I have a itch to bench. *Rockout :rockout:
