Windows 10: Can I transfer windows license to a new computer through my account online or SSD?

I currently have my SSD that contains windows from my previous computer, however I dont have access to the old motherboard and other components. I had not deactivated windows from my previous computer before I removed the SSD. My old windows machine was activated online so I dont have the physical serial number either. I am hoping to transfer my current windows license to a new computer through either booting through the SSD or somehow using my account to reactivate or transfer my licence.Is it possible to deactivate my windows online or to plug in my old SSD to boot from? I would much prefe

If its the free upgrade originated from an OEM Windows 7 or Windows 8 preinstalled license, it is still not transferrable, even though it says its retail in the command line using slmgr.vbs /dlv command.

Only licenses upgraded from a retail Windows 8 or Windows 7 or full Windows 10 license.

Yes, thank you, these are the relevant steps. I only want to point out one thing, since the instructions are a bit misleading.

Once you get to step 5 and see a list of devices linked to your Microsoft account, you need to select your old device from the list. So open the Activation page from the new device and select the old device in the list and mark it as This is the device I’m using right now.

My initial understanding was that you need to find your new device in the list and mark it as the currently active one. What you're actually doing is selecting the device from which to take the Windows license.

I have now successfully transferred my Windows license to my new device.
