That's true I read that, but technically speaking some of the release versions could also damage your phone, such as some of the builds that would overheat the phone or discharge the battery in a few hours.

I mentioned in my original post about another post that only answered a question about the factory warranty, I forgot to link it or summarize what it said.

In the post, the support engineer says that the factory warranty covers hardware damage and since the insider preview is software, you can submit your phone for repairs if there is a factory hardware defect. My question is that does the Microsoft Complete
warranty, which is extends the hardware warranty for a year and adds accidental damage coverage, get voided. It doesn't seem like it should, considering that a Microsoft Support Engineer says that Insider Preview wouldn't void the Factory Hardware Warranty.

The answer to both installing GDR3 and/or developer unlocking your phone is it may void the warranty. There is no definite yes or no for this.

Some repairers may class the warranty as void if they receive a developer unlocked phone, some may not. It's generally dependant on how thoroughly they check and the issue the phone has.

A lot of dis-information is being spread that GDR3 preview will void the warranty, that simply is not true. It may void it, but it's unlikely to. A repairer is more likely to spot a developer unlocked phone than one running a preview release.
