Can you help me now??? No user account now

"Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations". It finished - showed no progress.

That's what my problem was: I've been using my Microsoft Admin Account w/o signing into Windows, and wanted to created a Local Standard Account for security reasons. I mistakenly created a Local Admin Account, and thought I could just go and edit the original Microsoft Admin Account.

    Here's what I did:
Tried to add local standard account with sign to Windows, but it changed to local admin account and original MS admin account was gone. I figured I had edited the original MS admin account so I went into the local standard account through command run netplwiz and edited the username and password, telling it sign in to Windows. Under Computer Management window, it shows the Administrator account under ADMINISTRATOR and I cannot open Settings, Control Panel or add another account. I tried to add new user under Computer Management, User, Add new User and it let me change the password when I changed between Admin and NewUser when I opened up Start but no access is given to newuser account, failed. Let me change password upon login though.

You will need to download the Windows 10 media creation tool, and then download the latest Creators update. It will give you the option to save to a USB or create an ISO to burn to a DVD.

Well there is obviously problems with your system if you can't do anything.

Are you logged in with the administrator account still?

If you have restore points available, you could try to revert to a previous restore point to restore back to before you made the changes, if what you did was recent

Yes, I'm still logged in with the local admin account I created. I was afraid to sign out.

Okay, tell me about the Windows 10 media creation tool and I haven't read up on the latest Creators update yet. I'll have to go get another USB or more DVD's.

I did this today. What other way do I get to system restore since I cannot get into Settings from start?

  6. lmaneke Win User
The media creation tool downloads the Windows installation media for installing Windows.

I am going to be leaving where I am so I'll be unavailable for a while. I'll message back as soon as I can. If someone else messages you and tries to help you as well while I'm gone, I welcome it.

At this point, seems System Restore is a faster, most viable option.

"That's what my problem was: I've been using my Microsoft Admin Account w/o signing into Windows, and wanted to created a Local Standard Account for security reasons. I mistakenly created a Local Admin Account, and thought I could just go and edit the original Microsoft Admin Account."

Just to clarify why you had this issue, when you created a Local Account with it's own password, it replaced the MS account using the same User name. If you want to keep all your files under your orig name, you can use EITHER a Local or MS but not Both.

"What other way do I get to system restore since I cannot get into Settings from start?"

Since you can log in with your Local acct, restart. When the Log in page appears, don't log in but click the power icon (the one on the far right of the 3 in lower R corner), then click Restart option while holding down the Shift key. This will get you to Advanced startup options. Select Troubleshoot. This will take you to an option to do a System Restore to a point before you changed User accounts. Then for security that you wanted, sign in with your MS email account, no need for a Local.

If System Restore fails, I recommend an In place Repair/upgrade using the 'create media for another PC' option in media creation tool, then following this tutorial using Option 4 run from your desktop -
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

I used my MS email account as my email for the Local Admin Account, which is the same as my MS Admin account was. My system is pretty unstable now. MS Outlook keeps asking me for my password, and I've input several times before I get my email to download in Outlook. Startup is very slow, shutting down takes forever. I did a system restore but it failed, see below:

Do you have any important documents or pictures on your PC? You will need to back those up before you attempt to do a clean install of Windows.

    Hi.
I'll just pop in and mention some ideas, and then pop back out. *Smile

Imaneke is correct - everything should be backed up before you do anything else.
mrgeek's suggestion of an in-place repair install is a good one, and one I would pursue before a clean install.

However, I would try something first:
I would enable the Hidden Admin Account
Enable or Disable Elevated Administrator account in Windows 10 - Windows 10 User Accounts Tutorials
Then I would create a new local admin account (without an email!).
Then I would copy all my important data over to the newly created account.
Then I would delete the other problem account(s).
Finally, I would re-hide the Hidden Admin Account, and perform the in-place repair, if it is necessary.

May I show you what came up in my user account list below?

It shows my admin account 'run as admin with MS account'; however, I set up that local admin account w/o MS Account. I can get into my system settings, etc now. Can I change to MS Admin Account and will this change it back to the original MS Admin account, which is alright with me, and then create local standard account? Or will I still need to do your suggestions? I will do your suggestions - not familiar with doing, and uncomfortable doing so.
