Windows 10: Cannot activate windows on my computer (0x803fa067)

Hello everyone,

I recently just upgraded my OEM computer by putting in a new motherboard, CPU, and SSD. I recently had a HP ENVY Phoenix 810-330qe. Yesterday I installed a new version of Windows 10 on my SSD using Windows 10 installation media. For some apparent reason when I tried to activate Windows 10, the product code I obtained from my old windows in not working with the new one and I got the following window.

I even tried to troubleshoot and clicked on "I changed hardware on this device recently" but it can't reactivate Windows on this device. I contacted both Microsoft and HP to see if they could send me a new Windows product key but I got no help. Is there anyone that could help me with this problem?

Activation/Upgrade Error 0x803fa067

I tried to Updgrade my windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.
I tried it with the default key that upgrades Windows 10 to pro without activating it(which is done in the second step).

The Universal-Key for Windows 10 Pro which is published by Microsoft is VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T. I tried that one but I get the error 0x803fa067.

I first tried it with the Windows 10 Settings using the Change Product Key Button in the Activation "Tab" And second with the command slmgr.vbs -ipk VK7JG-...
Both methods werent succesfull.

What the error originally means is: you don't have a digital licence or a valid Product Key.
I guess either the newly bought laptop was delivered with a fraudulent license( then microsoft is bluntly lying to me)





or the error message isn't quite correct. In this case I would go with my second guess

I am not sure why this Problem occures, so my question is: why do I get the Error 0x803fa067?
I am aware of the fact that I could reinstall Windows 10 Pro(which is the way I will probably do it) but I am intrigued to know how I could resolve the Problem without spending those extra 15 minutes.

It could be detected that the Windows installed on your computer is not genuine or the previous update you installed could be the cause as to why you encounter this issue. Just to ask, which build of Windows 10 are you using? To know about it, hit
Start, type
Winver and then press Enter. You could also press
Windows Key + R, type
Winver into the Run dialog and press
Enter.

Furthermore, we suggest that you do these steps for us to know if the Windows installed on your computer is a genuine copy or not:

• Open Start, type: CMD.
• Right click CMD.
• Click Run as administrator.
• At the prompt, type: slmgr.vbs /dlv.
• Hit Enter.

You may also use the Activation troubleshooter. To use the troubleshooter, select the Start button, select Settings > Update
& security > Activation , and then select Troubleshoot. You must be an administrator to use this option.

Activation error 0x803fa067 after hardware upgrade

I recently upgraded my hardware and am trying to reactivate Windows 10 on a new computer. Getting an 0x803fa067 error.

I originally purchased a Windows 8 license online on the old computer, which got upgraded to Windows 10 for free. I got the key to display on the old computer and associated it with my Microsoft account, then tried to activate it on the new computer both
through the Troubleshooter and manually. The error is the same every time.

I ran slmgr.vbs /dlv and took a screenshot as suggested in a similar thread:





This seems to suggest the key is indeed genuine and retail, not OEM - correct me if I'm wrong. What can I do?
