Windows 10: Cannot Active Windows - Something interrupted our troubleshooting 0x80070002

Hi,

Unable to activate windows. Only recently noticed the prompt, but get the error “Something interrupted our troubleshooting 0x80070002” everytime I try.

If I troubleshoot, it says: “Troubleshooting has completed. We found a Windows 10 Home digital licence running Windows 10 Pro. To activate using this digital licence, you need to install Windows 10 Home”.

If I’m honest, I thought I’d always had Windows Pro. Also why do I have Windows Pro running now if indeed I had a Windows Home licence previously.

Not sure what to do - is this an error? Or do I need to install Windows 10 Home now, and if so, how?

Windows 10 Pro Activation Troubleshooting Error 0x80070002

Hi All,

Would really appreciate if someone can advise me on the following error:

- This is a custom built pc I bought 4 years back that came pre-installed with windows 10

- Have had no problems until recently an "activate windows" watermark appeared in the lower right corner of the screen

- When I go to settings it states that "windows is not activated", and also in red "something interrupted our troubleshooting. make sure you're connected to the internet, wait a few minutes and try again. Error code: 0x80070002.

- If I click Troubleshoot a prompt comes up "we can't activate your copy of windows. make sure you're connected to the internet..."

- I tried clicking change product key, but when I input the code and clicked activate I received "something interrupted our troubleshooting. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, wait a few minutes, and try again. (0x80070002)"

I really hope that there is a solution out there that doesn't involve me having to re-install windows. If anyone has any suggestions thank you in advance!

 

2004 update windows 10 error 0x80070002

Hello everyone,

thanks to some of the suggestions here and to some from other sources I have managed to fix the 0x80070002 error breaking up my feature update to 2004.

For completeness' sake and since it may help others, the following steps worked for me.

1. Download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website
2. Create a bootable USB drive with the MCT
3. Boot up from this USB Drive
4. Choose install settings, click 'Next', but on the next screen select "Repair your computer" instead of "Install"
5. Choose "Troubleshoot" -> "Startup Repair" and let it finish
6. Restart into Windows and attempt the usual Windows update

It looks like the BCD on my computer had been damaged by the boot loader (Windows 10 + Recovery partition) and running the "Startup Repair" from the installation USB Drive corrected the errors.

 

Windows 10 is suddenly not activated. Error Code: 0x80070002

Windows is not activated and in the activation settings it says "Something interrupted our troubleshooting... Error code: 0x80070002. The troubleshooter does not help, as it is saying "We can't activate your copy of Windows. Make sure you're connected to
the internet and try again." Some other people I know also have this problem. Maybe it is caused by something we have downloaded?
