    Cannot add secondary email.

Ok as I cannot find if I have posted before like listing subscriptions I will have to post now so sorry if I have down so in the past.

I have my main email set in outlook.live.com using hotmail.

Now in 7 and 10 now I am having the greatest of difficulty in adding my secondary (and oldest one) address to that outlook.live.com email service. I have tried Googling etc etc ad nauseum and cannot find an answer.

The issue is that I have that address set as a secondary email for purposes - especially for Microsoft - of identifying myself if my password does not work plus I do have a great number of old contacts stored in that email service which incidentally is provided by my ISP - Telstra the national phone service carrier.

I am currently using Thunderbird for that account and while it is ok I find to it very time consuming and a tad irritating that I have to have two emails open at once for said purposes.

    So any ideas please?

    :)

Getting the changed password on a childs phone

Thank you MuntashirulHaque for your contribution,

As a parent you can add a secondary email account on the child account for verification, but you cannot see the password due to privacy.

You only can get a notification on the secondary account that the password has been changed.

    Kindest Regards,

  3. E5 setting e-mail *Unable to create mailbox*

Log into your nokia messaging account on the internet... Then try to add ur primary email first, if it dosn't work, add the secondary email first then the primary email.

I believe you have used a secondary email on ur nokia messaging account. So log in with the other email. then you will be allowed to add this gmail account. Later on ur can swap the other back to be ur primary email...

  4. Cannot add secondary email.

    Hi ICIT2LOL

Here is a link to Telstra setup instructions. I checked out a few. One on Outlook.com is wrong, it is telling you how to set up Outlook the program that comes with Office.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/support/c...l-email-set-up

I would use the instructions under IMAP, POP and SMTP information for manual setup. I copied the IMAP settings

IMAP, POP and SMTP information for manual email setup

Telstra Mail (new) email settings - IMAP

If you are a new customer who has taken up a broadband service with Telstra on or after 21st April 2016, or you have been notified by Telstra that your email address has been moved to the new Telstra MailTM, the below settings for manual email setup will apply to you.
Telstra Mail recommends using IMAP however POP is available to use as alternate preference to IMAP. It’s a good idea to back up your email data before changing your email settings.

What is the difference between IMAP & POP?

IMAP and POP are two different protocols (methods) used to access email. Of the two, IMAP is the recommended option when you need to check your emails from multiple devices as IMAP always syncs with Telstra email servers.
Please note, IMAP is only available for customers using the new Telstra Mail platform
A good example of the difference is when you read your emails. If you’re using IMAP and mark an email as “read”, it also gets marked as read in all of your other inboxes. This won’t happen with POP as emails are downloaded to your specific computer or device and any changes you make on that device won’t be reflected in the Telstra servers and across other devices or computers.
If you’re switching from using POP to IMAP you’ll need to be mindful that any folders set up with POP will be lost when you change to IMAP. To keep these folders, we recommend logging into Webmail and re-creating them before transferring.

    IMAP settings for Telstra Mail™

IMAP is the recommended setting for Telstra Mail customers
    Account type

    • Account type: IMAP
    Incoming server details

    • Incoming server address: imap.telstra.com
    • Incoming server port: 993
    • Encrypted connection: SSL
    Outgoing server details

    • Outgoing server address: smtp.telstra.com
    • Outgoing server port: 465 (recommended) or 587
    • SMTP authentication: On
    • Encrypted connection: SSL/TLS on port 465 (recommended) or STARTTLS on port 587
    Username & Password

    • Enter your full email address (ending in ‘@bigpond.com’, ‘@bigpond.net.au’ or ‘@telstra.com’)
    • Enter your Telstra email account password (case sensitive)
    Other settings to check

    • Ensure the checkbox is ticked for ‘Outgoing server requires authentication’.

They also have settings for directly using their portal on the Web.

I have an Outlook.com and a Hotmail.com address, both are Webmail, but have to log out of one to get into the other since Outlook.com and Hotmail.com are essentially the same. For final downloading of messages I use Microsoft Outlook for one and the E-Mail app included with the SeaMonkey browser for the other.

Ok first I have no way of adding an account to the outlook.live.com.owa which I think is an el cheapo version of the Office suite and I just don't want to be bullied into using Outlook.com and have to pay for it.

In the pic/s is what cannot be accessed in the GUI of the mail service.

Well I don't know what happened there but I just tried manually adding that account again and it has suddenly appeared again.

Honestly it defies belief at times.

Thanks to all the help and I am sorry it has turned out this way *Rolleyes
