Windows 10: Cannot boot Windows 10, unknown problem

That looks good. However, if for whatever reason, your Windows partition is damaged (as it seems to be) so it is unbootable and irrecoverable, you will be faced with a clean install.

 

You said this occurred after updating to the CU.
Did your PC actually boot up ok at any time after that?

Some people have found it necessary to update their BIOS after upgrading. Frankly that's clutching at straws- but what have you to lose?

Note that one interesting test of a partition's integrity is to try to create a disk image of it. You could convince yourself as that by trying it. Macrium Reflect will give a CRC error if it can't read it properly.

 

Backup, clean install and restore (but not a clone as that will bring back all the crap as well) would be the way I'd go as well.

The HDTune report is interesting - I wonder if that data integrity error is a leftover of a failed defrag.

What method did you use to attempt to boot into safe mode?

The key to securing this is
- create a base disk image using e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) to external storage. (option Windows Backup)
Do this as soon as Win 10 is up and running- before you start configuring it and installing stuff.

As you progress with your configuration, update your image (create a differential image - smaller and faster - being the difference between your base image and what's on disk now).

If sthg goes wrong- restore your image. Typcically well under an hour for an SSD over USB3.

Maintain the practice of updating your image periodically /before/after major change.
