Windows 10: Cannot change desktop background

Hi. My desktop background is restricted and cannot be changed. Here is the problem:

I have also tried the Set As Background method but did not work. There was no error message. I think the ActiveDesktop key was enabled.



Both the registry editor and the group policy editor did not work either.



I would be grateful if you could help me fix this problem.

My control panel and settings are also restricted.

I am running Windows 10 Education Version 1703 that cannot be updated.

Hi,

To change the desktop background into a solid color, see the steps below:

• Right-click on the desktop, and select Personalize.
• Under Personalization, select Background.
• On the right pane, click on the drop-down menu for Background, and then select
  Solid color.
• Choose your preferred color and it should immediately make changes.

• Press Windows Logo Key + I. Then click on Personalization.
• Click on Background to change it.

changing the background images

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things.

• Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to desktop background image or lock screen image?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the background picture and check if it helps.

• In the search type as ‘Settings’ and click on it.
• Select ‘Personalization’, under ‘Background’ option select as ‘Picture’.
• Under ‘Choose your picture’ select any picture accordingly or you can browse the picture from your computer.
