Windows 10: Cannot compress to ZIP file because of directory name

    Cannot compress to ZIP file because of directory name


    Hi, I cannot zip files because the directory name for my desktop is Chinese: . I tried renaming this directory to English, but ended up creating an entirely new desktop. Now, I have two desktops as shown below:Furthermore, I still cannot zip files because the desktop name hasn't changed and is still the Chinese characters. Hence, I would like to change the directory name and delete one of the desktops, and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

    File->Send to->Compressed (zipped) folder

    Do I need to change the filename from "Compressed (zipped) folder.ZFSendToTarget" to "Compressed (zipped) folder.zip"? Otherwise, I cannot see the menu option File->Send to->Compressed (zipped) folder.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    I followed your direction as given and saw "Compressed (zipped) folder" in both cases.

    However, after executing the third instruction, the "Compressed (zipped) folder" menu option is no longer available from File->Send to menu option. Also, when I re-execute
    shell:sendto, "Compressed (zipped) folder" is showing as "Compressed (zipped) folder.ZFSendToTarget"

    More help would be appreciated.

    Compressed (zipped) folder error

    This error message pops up when I try to zip a file:

    Compressed (zipped) folder error

    Unable to complete operation

    Access denied

    I have tried the two methods suggested on this forum and it still doesn't work. it has worked previously not sure how that changed
