Windows 10: cannot convert mbr to gpt by using mbr2gpt.exe tool while i have windows 10 1803 update

hello friends

I need to convert my disc from mbr partition type to gpt to boot using uefi. After reading the Microsoft mentioned article I used cmd as administrator to use mbr2gpt tool, but it says that (disc layout validation failed for disc 0) without showing any error mentioned at that page. what should I do to convert my disk from mbr to gpt in this situation?

There is a way to convert mbr to gpt without data loss. clean command deletes all datas inside the disk, so dont use this command

boot with windows dvd , and get into command prompt

type diskpart , find the disk number , which is need to convert mbr to gpt

say disk number is 0

exit diskpart

type below command in command prompt

mbr2gpt /convert /disk:0

wait for some minutes to complete , once you get commpleted successfuly means, exit and close ,

shutdown the pc , remove windows dvd

important

After the disk has been converted to GPT partition style, the firmware must be reconfigured to boot in UEFI mode.


Make sure that your device supports UEFI before attempting to convert the disk.

The video explains that the methods used in your suggestion will destroy data and that is why the new utility MBR2GPT is the recommended solution. Since this utility is new with the latest Fall Creators Update, it may need updating. I hope someone has more
experience with it and can shed some light on why it fails for me.
