Windows 10: Cannot Download Microsoft Store Apps

OS: Windows 10 Pro Version 2004

In a domain, a hybrid AAD.


I have a username *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, with aliases of *** Email address is removed for privacy ***.


I can sign into MS Store but when I try downloading a app, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or a windows theme I receive a black screen with:

Sign in again

Then try again.


PUR-AuthenticationFailure

then the date/time in UTC here


Now here Microsoft Store, PUR failure - Microsoft Community Expand the following path: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\current\device\Accounts



Double click onAllowMicrosoftAccountSignInAssistant.


My hive only has 2 items under \device\, DataProtection and knobs. Another computer on the network, within the same OU, has a many items under here including \accounts.


Can someone tell me whats going on here? Quite sure my user account is a Microsoft account though we have ADFS setup so I am redirected there to sign in, the store is not blocked, I have reinstalled the store and reset.

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
