    Cannot find version required of C ++ redistributable - version : 8.0.50608.0

    Hello,

    Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\SLDWORKS.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.OpenMP,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

    I'm facing some difficulties while trying to install SOLIDWORKS on my computer (using windows 10).
    Checking the event logger, I can see that It can't find version 8.0.50608.0 of C++, I tried to download "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package"
    But the verison installed is different than required.

    Can you please help me get the current version?

    :)

    C++ redistributable

    The C++ redistributables are a collection of libraries that are needed to run a C++ program on a computer that does not have Visual C++ installed.
    There is no reason you have to link to specific versions of the library (unless earlier libraries do not contain the functions you want). You can even link to mutiple versions of libraries, but that is not highly recommended unless you are aware of the potential problems you could encounter.
    So you could technically be using VS2008 or VS2010 and be linking to the 2005 libraries for whatever reason.

    It's the same with C# and frameworks. You can compile against any compatible framework (2.0, 3.5, 4.0) as long as the libraries contain what you need. Depending upon what you compile against will determine what framework is required on the computer running the app, just like with the redistibutables.

    So in answer to your question, it is likely that the game was written using VS2005, but it is not a requirement for using the libraries.

    Raid 0 help

    Hi all, I've followed the IRST raid installation directions and I have created myself a Raid 0 volume. Rapid storage confirms my successful migration from a system disc to a raid 0 array. I'm also able to select it as my boot device in BIOS, but what I don't understand is why it is not listed in my Drives under my computer

    In fact, my computer still lists my original C: drive with the original capacity. I feel as if I've miss an important step here and I'm unsure how to proceed.

    C++ redistributable

    Sometimes when i install games, at the end they require two other components:
    directX update and C++ 2005 redistributable.
    Now the question is: This C++ 2005 means that the game was written in MSVC 2005?
    *Wtf :wtf:
