    Cannot hibernate through shortcut

I have Acer Nitro 5 laptop running Windows 10 version 1809 (build 17763.379). I created recently a hibernate shortcut on my desktop.

    I used %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe –h

Upon double clicking the shortcut, a small cmd prompt opens for a fraction of a second then nothing happens.

I'm however able to hibernate using the power button that comes in the start menu.

I also used 'C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /h /t 0" for the hibernate shortcut but again the shortcut doesn't hibernate my windows.

What should i do to solve this trouble?

My windows and all the drivers are up to date.

    :)

shortcut to make the computer sleep/hibernate

I would like a shortcut to make the Win 10 desktop computer sleep/hibernate as I was able to do in XP. No multiple steps, reaching down to press the desktop computer power button or other inconvenient methods. Would like to be able to sleep in the daytime
and hibernate at night (with power off). If I make a Shortcut: rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0; and if the computer is set to allow hibernate, then i have to use the power button down on the computer to start up again instead of any key.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

    • Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
    • Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
    • Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
    • Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.Cannot hibernate through shortcut :)

    Missing hibernate button

    Hi Yusak,

We would like to isolate this issue that you're having right now. Will you be able to provide the exact error message that you recieved?

We suggest that you try to enable hibernation on your device using the Command Prompt.

To make hibernation available, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
    • In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
    • When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
    • At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on, and then press Enter.
    • Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.

We will wait for your response.

    Regards.
