Cannot install games to external SSD in the Microsoft Store

I can't choose my D drive when I'm installing games, it's not an option. I have tried formatting it to NTFS over from exFAT and it still doesn't allow me to choose the D drive. I have also tried changing the default in system -> storage -> where new content is saved and that also does not work.I also cannot choose the drive when installing games:

microsoft store install on external SSD

Sorry for the repeated messages, but I think I figured it out. It seems like the Microsoft Store doesn't take too kindly to downloading and installing games onto external SSDs (at least the Samsung T5). I did an experiment and installed ReCore onto my flash
drive and now the game runs. I guess you will have to use an HDD if you want to install games from the Microsoft Store onto an external drive.

    Hope this helps!

microsoft store install on external SSD

I spent some time with Microsoft support this morning. They told me that they think it is something to do with the SSD not allowing installation from the store. They suggested resetting and then an in-place reset. I'm awaiting the email with instructions.

If you don't mind, what legacy games from the store do you have on your SSD? I'm having an issue with ReCore as well and curious if you have that game and it's running.

microsoft store install on external SSD

I have an external SSD (500GB Samsung T5) connected via USB C to a surface book 2. I install from the Microsoft store sea of thieves. The game will not launch off the SSD. Every other legacy game i install to the SSD runs. I get the possibly a corrupt
install alrt when i try to launch. Why offer the option to select a drive if the windows apps don't work.?
