Windows 10: Cannot reactivate Windows after hardware change

Hello,


After making sure I have a retail key for Windows on this computer and linking it to my Microsoft account I went and swapped out my motherboard/cpu/ram yesterday.

Now Windows is bugging me to activate it, I went through the troubleshooter, clicked "I changed my hardware" and after a few seconds I get a screen with the message "Windows can not be activated, we cannot activate Windows again on this machine, please try again later." (paraphrased, I am using Windows in a different language).


For extra information: the original Windows key was for Windows 7 and I upgraded it to 10 with the free upgrade at the time.


Anyone has a solution for this? The "Activate Windows" message in the bottom right bugs me quite a bit and after checking everything I was sure this would go smoothly (and am of course a bit cross it's a hassle once again).

I changed a lot of the hardware on my device recently, however I followed the steps on the Microsoft support page to get my computer ready for the hardware change so that I could reactivate Windows 10 after I changed the hardware. However, now it won't reactivate,
and has the error code 0xC004F025, and when I try to troubleshoot it says "We can't reactivate Windows on this device. Try again later."

My Windows 10 was a free upgrade from Windows 7.
