Windows 10: Cannot remote connect from Ubuntu to Windows 10 Home using Remmina

Hello, I want to connect my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS laptop to my Windows 10 Home pc using Remmina, but despite I can ping the windows 10 pc I am not able to remote connect to it. I have enabled the remote access on the windows 10 home and also set in my firewall bitdefender an exception for the ip of the laptop but the problem still remains. I also have tried this here Allow Remote Desktop in Windows 10 HOME Edition - YouTube, but this doesn't help me. Does anybody has the same problem and knows how to fix it?.

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
   • IP Address - Locate and Find for Your Computer - Windows 7 Help Forums
4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

Try the above, post back how it went.

 

Windows Remote Desktop Client and Ubuntu

I understand that you are facing issues while connecting to Ubuntu client using Windows Remote Desktop connection.



In order to connect to remote desktop session on an Ubuntu machine you need to install XRDP server on Ubuntu first. You can refer the article

How to remove "HP Connected Remote" as a sign in account ?

HP Connected Remote is an app that comes preinstalled on select Windows HP computers. I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it resolves this issue.

• On the Windows 10 Start screen, type hp connected remote.
• Click HP Connected Remote from the Apps search results.
• Click Settings, and make sure Enable HP Connected Remote is turned On.
