Windows 10: cannot remove a child user from a family account on laptop

hi guys,


somehow I was able to geniusly enter 1/1/2019 in for the date of birth when first booting this machine when I bought it this morning. so what that's resulted in is Microsoft virtually locking me out of everything cuz it believes I'm a child and I have a child account with this email address. I was able to access the desktop but I can't install any of my programs of development environments because I need permission from an adult. I have an adult account set up with this machine, but when MS sends the email with the "allow" button in it, it sends me to a webpage but no transaction is issued. how do I delete this child account (which is the administrator account), put an adult account on it and make that adult the admin?

Unable to remove child account from Family

I am also having the same issue I am not able to remove the childs account I followed the steps and after doing so I received this message in error (
Select Manage my child’s profile info, find your child, then select
Remove consent for this child’s account. Then, try removing this member again).
I'm completely lost I cant find where im given the option to do so (remove consent)

Let me provide you another way to remove the child account from family.

1. Go to
   family.microsoft.com.
   
2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
   
3. Under your child’s name click on
   More options.
   
4. Now click on Remove from family and then click on Remove.
   

Once you confirm to remove the child account, it should be removed from the family group.

How to delete an adult account in the Family Settings.

Hi,

To resolve your issue, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• As an adult in the family account, sign in with your Microsoft account.
• Under Your family, click
  Remove.
  
• Click the child account you want to remove, and click Remove.
• You will get an email confirmation once the child has been removed from the family.

Note: If you removed a Child account, it will be tagged as an "Orphaned account" and you will need to attach another "Parent account".
