  1. Cannot remove corrupt backup copy of C:\ProgramData from backup volume

I used available special folder options in Robocopy to try to backup the full contents of C:\ProgramData to K:\ProgramData.

The process seemed to be working at first, but eventually aborted with an error. Looking at the result, K:\ProgramData was created, but so too was an Application Data subfolder, with another Application Data subfolder, and another Application Data subfolder, and on and on until I presume that the maximum path limit was reached.

I have tried unsuccessfully to delete this tree of useless folders. There is no apparent sign of the cause in the event log.

    ProgramData-filder backup

    Hi,

The ProgramData folder is usually located in the C: drive of your device. To locate the ProgramData folder, you can perform the following:

    • In File Explorer, click on the View tab.
    • Click on Options.
    • In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab.
    • Under the Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
    • Click on Apply.
    • Click on OK.

Let us know how it goes after you've performed the steps.

My backup stubbornly refuses to run. I can't run the initial backup, therefore the file history backups don't run either. This has been an ongoing problem for quite some time. Suggestions I've received have not worked so far. Following is the problem
    and the failed resolution attempts:

    • I get this message from the Event Log:

Unable to scan user libraries for changes and perform backup of modified files for configuration C:\Users\Papa\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration\Config

    Event ID - 201

    Level: Error

    • In another thread from July, someone suggested checking a particular service (I forget the name just now) is running. It is.

    • Two days ago a Microsoft employee suggested the following steps. These steps resulted in no change, still no backup:

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to start and stop the services “Windows backup” and “volume shadow copy” and check if it helps.

    • Press “Windows+R” and in the run command box type “services. MSc”.
    • Search for the service “Windows Backup” double click on it and check whether the service is started or not, click on “OK” button. I suggest you to stop and start the service again.
    • Once done again search for the service “Volume shadow copy” double click on it and check whether the service is started or not. I suggest you to stop and start the service again, click on “OK” button and
check whether you can perform backup successfully.
Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

    • I performed these steps multiple times. The backup still crashes, with the same error message. In addition I collected the following error message, but only one time:

Unable to start a backup cycle for configuration C:\Users\Papa\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration\Config

    Event ID: 200

    • Can anyone help me with this stubborn problem?

    Thank you in advance.

    ProgramData-filder backup

I have installed and used the Davinci Resolve movie- editor for quite a time.

After having lost a project file, from a chrash in the Program causing me a Blescreen too, I now have to find the Project file located in the ProgramData-filder in the backup. I dont use the " filehistory" but the Microsoft Windows Backup.

Now, I need this file ! Coz otherwiswe I loose weeks of editing work .So I guess it should be as somple as dragging the file in the backup to the folder in my C-drive.

But when I search and brows the backup disk- I cannot fint it directly coz it has other Folder structure.

So. : How do I get into the Programdata-folder in the backup. I also opened the backupfiles directly, but it was over 1000 ziopped files, and hopeless to

start to open one and one .
