Windows 10: Cannot rename folder.

I moved the default video, downloads, pictures, documents, music to a different drive because I have my operating system on an SSD with limited space.


I did this by creating new folders on a different drive and moving them to those folders. I did not manually name these folders so they defaulted to "New Folder"


When I moved one of the folders to the new drive, for example the "Videos" folder it appeared to change the name from "New Folder" to "Videos."




However this appears to just be cosmetic and not actually the folder name Because if I open any of these folders and view the location in the title bar it shows them to be named "New Folder"






So my question is how do I ACTUALLY rename these folders, because right clicking on any of them and trying to rename just changes the 'cosmetic' version and not the actual path address.

Can't rename folder.

• Are you getting an error message when trying to rename the folder?

• Can you send us a screenshot of the "Public" folders?

Renaming the users folders

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

You are trying to rename the User folder, which can’t be done through the File explorer. Whatever user name you use of your User account, user account folder will have same name. You can rename the Subfolder of the User account folder but not User
account folder.

If you want rename the User account folder, change user account name using the suggestion

Lets’ refer to these steps to rename the User account and check if that helps.

• Press Windows and X keys together.
• Click on Control Panel, click on User Accounts.
• Click on User account, then click on “Change your account name”
• If it’s prompting for password please enter and click on Yes. If you do not have password click on
  Yes.
• Enter the new user name.
• Click on change name.
