Windows 10: Cannot resume from sleep / screensaver

Hi. I hope you can help me with regards to this constant issue I have been having.


My laptop sometimes doesn't shut down fully or when it enters sleep mode or screensaver mode screen turns off, then the fans ramp up to constant maximum and no matter what I do, the screen won't turn back on unless I force shut down and turn it on again.


Is there a known issue? What can I do?


The laptop is an HP Omen 15 OMEN 15-dc1007nq .


All the drivers were installed from the HP website, BIOS is up to date.

All my ACPI drivers from device manager are installed and when checking for driver updates there it tells me that everything is up to date.


Windows 10 is the most recent one, 64-bit, fully updated.


Is this a known issue? What else can I try?

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
• Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
• Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
• Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.

 

Laptop Does Not Sleep Automatically/Screensaver never starts

My laptop does not sleep automatically...ever when connected to the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard and Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse with the laptop closed and connected to a Monitor. Here are my Power & sleep settings:





Also, no matter how long I leave my system untouched, the screensaver never starts. Here are those settings:





Any suggestions? I am under the assumption that resolving one issue would resolve both.

Here is the output of powercfg /lastwake, powercfg /requests, and powercfg /waketimers





The listed waketimer presumably is required by Acronis backup as I have a backup scheduled at 4am daily.

 

Win7 Pro Laptop crashes when resumes from sleep

Ok almost positive it related to the wifi card/driver. If I disable it in the device manager my laptop sleeps and resumes just fine.

So I guess first step would to be try to find a different driver and if that doesnt work I guess I can replace it. Used mini pci-e wifi cards are pretty cheap.
