Windows 10: Cannot safely remove Seagate Backup Plus on Windows 10 Professional OS

I am in the process of backing up our system PC for our safe keeping and recovery if anything goes wrong with our workstations. As of the moment, I am using my Seagate backup External Hard Drive to do the back up, I have 3 running PC that I need to backup, so I created 3 partitions on my hard drive.


I did the first back up run on the first PC, after that I put on one of the Partitioned drive from my external hard drive.


I was proceeding to the next PC so I can use the other partition of my hard drive for the next back up. Unfortunately I tried to safely remove the external hard drive and kick it out from the connected pc, but it says there are still running programs and/or folders so it cannot be ejected. I close all the folders and no program is running on the PC. Still I cannot kick out my External Hard drive. The safest way is that I shutdown the PC and remove my hard disk.


I tried to do the same process of back up to the second PC, after I have done the back up and try to safely remove the External Hard drive, again, same scenario occur, I cannot remove the Hard drive as program/folder is still open/running.


I cannot do this on site and any how shutdown the client PC if I want to kick my External Hard Drive. The PC is used to monitor the plant and I am afraid that if I forcely take out it will corrupt my hard drive.


My 3 PCs is using OS windows 10 Professional.


I need your expert help on this matter.

Seagate Backup Plus Slim and Windows 10

I am able to backup my files using Seagate Backup Plus Slim. Windows 10 tells me my Seagate software is up to date. However I keep getting notifications to backup my files on the Windows 10 Notifications Board. Also Windows 10 does not allow me to add
my Seagate Backup as an external device and seems not to be registering that I am already backing up my files to an the external Seagate hard drive. Any suggestions?

Seagate Backup Plus 5 Tb drive shows up on my Windows 10 device manager but does not show up on the file history and scheduler does not work.

Spent 2 hours with Seagate Tech support but said it's a Microsoft problem.

My two 2 TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim external drives also say "for PC & Mac". I just plugged them in & was able to use them right out of the box in Win 10...

How to use an external drive without any special software

I chose not to install the bundled Seagate software, thinking I would use Win 10's own File History - but I don't even use that. (I really don't want an external drive constantly plugged in & constantly being written to.) I just copy/paste
important files/downloads to the Seagate drive when necessary. Also, I make system images to it occasionally. So, I eventually deleted the Seagate software from the external drives.
