cannot save documents / can't fix or work with the new file access

Greetings. First computer was a Commodore 64. Win 10 always has me feeling like a neophyte....

I currently, as of today or yesterday, cannot save any documents in Open Office.
Also getting these warnings about file changes blocked---that's a new windows defender thing, right?

Also I have notices of updates waiting to be installed or downloaded, and no way that I understand to make this happen.

I have managed to add open office and folderlock to the allowed list on that access/changes business, but I still get the alerts and still cannot save a document.

    I have rebooted.

Have gone into Windows Defender, per a website or two, but do not see any area to make changes in ransomware protection in Settings (as shown on said websites.)

The alerts about blocking change/access don't seem to interfere with function; but pretty well non functional if I cannot save files.

Sorry, I'm sure I am repeating known issues, but I cannot get beyond this. Not feeling smart today!
    Thanks.

    :)

  3. documents access & saving

    Hi Jean,

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

This may be caused by incorrect permissions on the files.

You can fix this using these steps:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.
