Windows 10: Cannot send yahoo email in mail app

I am using the MS mail app and the past couple of days I cannot send emails through my yahoo account. My gmail account on the mail app is working just fine. I can send emails from my phone and through the yahoo server. I am receiving emails with no problem. Please help. Thanks.

email is hung up and will not send

This is taken from Yahoo Mail Help pages:
"Limits on sending email in Yahoo Mail
In order to better enforce anti-spam policies, Yahoo does not disclose the number of recipients or emails that can be sent at one time.
•If you've received a notification that a limit has been met, you'll need to wait a set amount of time before you can send more emails. Most sending limit notifications inform you of how long you'll have to wait.
•If you're planning to regularly send bulk email, consider looking into alternate solutions (like Yahoo Groups, a Yahoo Business account, or a third-party bulk email option)."

Whether you use the Win 10 Mail App or directly via the Webmail it is still Yahoo sending and basically it is a spam prevention policy.

It may help to have those 60 Email addresses listed in Yahoo Contacts. You would sync your People App contacts with Yahoo contacts.

You could also try making a group in the People App, Email addresses separated by semi-colons. Probably some limit on that as well...

I went this route and added passwords for yahoo mail. I might try this method above to get gmail to buck up! *Tongue

YAHOO MAIL FIX
2FA needs to be enabled which it already was and just follow these steps below.

1. In yahoo mails account security, click on manage app passwords.




2. After selecting other app and entering the new app name in the text box




3. Now, in Windows 10 mail app, add this type of account.




4. In Windows 10 mail app, enter your details and the password generated by step 2.




Fully functional mail app again.



GMAIL FIX

Now similar steps to setting up Gmail. Here I'll only go through the Gmail steps as Windows Mail App setup is the exact same.

Yahoo has been going through some changes as Verizon lays its hands around the product. You get messages if you try to access the web view on the old IE with a desire to push you to a new browser.

I recognize you are using app I only mention as it relates to things happening at Yahoo.

Any chance you have two step verification on for Yahoo in which case you need an app password to access.

Just for my clarification, you are trying to access your Yahoo mail account through your Windows 10 mail app, correct?

You might also see if any Credentials are being stored in the Windows Credential Manager for Yahoo. (Click start, type Credential Manager)
