Cannot set up Your Phone App due to QR code

    Hi,

I recently linked a new Android phone to my Windows 10 laptop and it was successfully linked for about a week until they stopped syncing data. I tried to re-link them from scratch, but I can't get past the QR code scan. I can scan the code, but it doesn't actually link to anything when scanned, it just copies the information to the clipboard. I think the code is intended to link to a sign-in page and there doesn't appear to be any other way to sign in. Strangely, there was no QR code step when I linked the phone and the computer the first time a few weeks ago.

I should mention that I have never really used QR scanning before. Is there some trick to it I'm missing? I've tried using both the phone's camera and Google Lens to scan. I've also tried pasting the copied information into a browser, but it doesn't open anything.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    :)

  2. Your Phone app not working

Perhaps this may be of help clearing up some confusion.

If you do a search for "Your Phone" via the Windows 10 start menu, the result takes you to the "Your Phone" app page, which gives you the options to connect/sync your computer to your phone. It is the settings on that page that I have struggled with, because they lead you nowhere, with no way to complete the process. At least, that is my experience.

But there is another choice in that also shows up farther down in the start menu "Your Phone" the search results called "Link your phone". It takes you to a different settings page titled "Your Phone", but gives you options not found on the Your Phone "app" page, including the ability to add a device, and most importantly, "unlink" your phone. This is the crucial step, which will lead you to the next step of re-linking your phone on your computer. You will come across a popup that displays a QR code (you will be asked to scan this QR code in a further step), and you will be asked to install the the Your Phone app on your phone (even if it is already installed), upon which it will then offer you to confirm the process by either scanning the QR code, or signing into Microsoft.

For me, for whatever reason, scanning the QR code did not work, but signing into Microsoft did complete the process.

  3. QR Code Question

I'm working on completely rebranding the company I work for. Everything from the website, trucks, business cards to the shipping boxes. I am basically creating a new brand from the ground up.

I've done this before but I have never used a QR code. My question is I see a lot of QR code generators online that are free. However when I type in the same exact web address I notice the pattern in the code is different from site to site and day to day but, the code I generated last week seems to work fine.

Do QR codes expire and is there a way to pay for one so that a year from now the QR codes on the sides of our trucks don't lead people to some strange porn site or something?

    QR Code Question

Who in management thought it was a good idea to put a QRcode on the sides of their trucks? Do they expect people riding in vehicles next to the trucks to whip out their mobile phones and capture the code at 65 MPH?
