Windows 10: Cannot successfully update Windows 10

Windows update status seems to be stuck on "An update is being prepared for your device, but it's not quite ready yet. We'll keep trying or you can try again now." The quality update history shows that installation of 2019-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based systems failed. (KB4493440). The error code was 0x80240034. Windows has been failing in feature updates to 1803 for months now; I suspect that it is because the processor (Intel core i5-4430) might not be compatible with 1803.


I have tried running the Windows update troubleshooter. I get a "Potential Windows update database error detected." I would appreciate advice on how to resolve this problem.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
