Windows 10: Cannot unlock my Drive which is locked by Bitlocker

Hello,


I got a new laptop Dell g3 3500 which has a windows installed on it Jan and few days ago it crashed regarding a new update from Microsoft and I couldn't open it again,

So I installed another windows and of course all the data on drive C removed formatted,

when I checked drive D which contains all my important data I found it locked and asked me to enter 48-digits to unlock it,

After a lot of search I found an article that I can get my recovery keys from my Microsoft account which was entered on the last windows https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey?refd=login.live.com

but i believe that I didn't relate the old windows with ant account,

So all I found on my account the recovery keys for the new windows which I installed new,



So I want to unlock my drive as it is critical for me

as it contains all my work data

Locking an Unlocked BitLocker Enabled Drive

Hi, I searched for an option to lock an unlocked BitLocker enabled drive but couldn't find anything. The unlocked drive is accessible by the other user when switching the user account. There should be an option to lock the drive when a user has finished.

I hereby suggest to modify the context menu as shown in the image:





I am sure this will help the users a lot.

Unlock an eternal drive bitlocker

This is a Seagate external expansion hard drive (1 Terrabyte). I never had any issues with the drive until yesterday when I disconnected and reconnected it. At that point the Locked symbol showed up. I am told that I need to provide a password or recovery
key to unlock the bitlocker. I did not put the bitlocker into effect. Therefore I do not have a password or recovery key code to unlock it. This is a Microsoft software caused issue.

I spoke to a tech person from Seagate who told me this is an unsecured external drive with no encryption and that I needed to speak with Microsoft about unlocking the drive.

I did shut down the computer as you suggested and the drive still has a locked symbol.

I appreciate your help on this. If I cannot get the drive unlocked I will have to speak to a Microsoft tech person for $50 about a problem that Microsoft caused. Not good...

Do you have any other suggestions?

Unable to unlock USB drives encrypted/locked with Bitlocker To Go

Hey All,

Recently my company provided me with a Windows 10 SOE image as part of a UAT. The image includes Symantec Endpoint Encryption which utilizes Bitlocker for encryption.

I went through all of the motions with the C:\ drive to be encrypted and even printed the recovery key. Well, at some point I plugged in a few My Passport USB drives and they became locked by Bitlocker To Go. Everytime I try to unlock or click on these drives it asks for the 48-bit key which I don't have because I never was prompted to encrypt/lock these drives.









IT says that there are no keys stored on the servers for these USB drives and suggested that this would be a "local" encryption. However, they also stated that they wouldn't be encrypted unless I was prompted about it. So, there's this mystery about how these USB drives came to be locked.


I've been doing some research and the closest I've come is getting some output about the protectors:

I've tried to copy the .bek file to another non-encrypted/locked USB but get:

I've tried all of the passwords (even blank) I have in an attempt to unlock the drive:

When I search my laptop by either the Numerical or External IDs, I get nothing even with hidden files enabled.

Can anybody provide any recommendations here? I can always provide any additional info. Should I also post in the MS forums?

There's so much data on these drives that I cannot loose.
