I'm not sure how you logon but either way (local or MS Account)

On the computer you are tying to connect to go to

File Explorer > Network > click on that computers shared folder > right click on one of the shared folders > select properties > Select Sharing > Select Advanced sharing > Select Permissions > Select Add >

If you are using a MS account to logon to the computer type your MS email into the box and then press > Check names

If you typed it in properly you should see your Email account in the box save or press ok and you should be able to type the Email address and password from the other computer.

If you have a local account follow the same steps but use the user name.

You can also try connecting to computer by using it's IP
    EG:
    \\192.168.0.100\

There is no need to put the computer name or name of the folder in my example.

    Thanks sml156 for your help.

I log in without my Microsoft account. File Explorer > Network, lists 3 computers, mine, my wife's and our Ubuntu that we use for backup. None of the listed computers has a shared folder that I can find, by clicking or right clicking.

My wife's computer lists 3 locations, clicking on my computer shows my HP Laserjet printer which is connected to the network.

When I click my computer there's a Share Tab, clicking that and everything is grayed, on my wife's there's several thing that aren't grayed.

I would create a new folder on the computer and and share that folder with the steps from my last post.

Also are all the computers on the same subnet and have the same host name, If you have not changed anything Microsoft default is WORKGROUP

    Can't access my computer

We're all members of the WORKGROUP.

I created a new folder in my documents folder and followed your instructions, I can can now access that folder from Map Network Drive, plus Users and everything below seems to be map-able, will play around with some more and if I run into anything weird I respond here otherwise I'll mark this as resolved.

    Thanks!

    Again I spoke too soon.*Mad

My wife's computer can access mine, but the computer I have in my workshop doesn't even see mine, it sees my wife's, our backup (Ubuntu) computer and itself, but not mine.

Another interesting thing, I setup my wife's old computer in my office, logged in as my wife, it has 2 mapped locations, the Ubuntu and my old computer (her new one), when i attempt to map a network drive, the only computer shown after clicking Browse... is itself. Logged as me (this used to be my computer too), there are several mapped drives, and when I attempt to map a network drive all 5 computers are listed and I can map to any of them.

All referenced computers are laptops except for the Ubuntu, which is a desktop computer.
