Windows 10: Can't activate Windows 11 Pro after mainboard replacemt

My PC came with an OEM I guess Windows Key two years ago. Recently, the supplier changed my motherboard as it was defective. It is the same mainboard but a different SN.Now, I can't activate Windows anymore. When I try Troubleshoot in System -> Activation the blue window opens but it says that my copy of Windows cannot be activated. That small button which says 'hardware change' etc. doesn't even appear. see screenshot belowAny other online troubleshooting didn't help either. In my Microsoft account I see now two computers as devices with the same name. MS now thinks that I have Windows

Activate Windows 10 after mainboard change

I had to change my mainboard and now I can't activate Windows 10 Pro. In my Microsoft Account I see the old pc (activated) and the new one (not activated). I already pressed trouble shooting but I could not fix the problem, because on the broken mainboard
I used a Windows 10 Pro N. On the new mainboard I use Windows 10 Pro. The license is the same. I don't want to install Windows 10 Pro N again, because it causes problem with other software.

 

Windows 10 Pro activation failed - Recently changed mainboard+cpu

So my old mainboard which I bought 11 years ago and houses an AMD Phenom X2 CPU broke down last week, and since I can no longer find a cheap mainboard that supports that CPU, I decided to "upgrade" to a new mainboard and switch to Intel i3 cpu, at the same
time installing new pieces of DDR4 RAM too.

However, my windows 10 pro is installed on my Samsung SSD and it works just fine with the new hardware, so I can go straight in into Windows, and later I discovered that my windows activation status has changed to 'not activated'.

After a lot of troubleshooting and reading several articles, I came to realise that I may not have linked my previous activation to my microsoft account (I have a hotmail account).

So the trouble now is I cannot get my windows activated using that product key I bought from last time (which I purchased in either 2017 or 2018, I don't remember).

What should I do?

 

Activation after Mainboard Change

Hello everybody,

I have the problem that after a mainboard change my formerly activated windows 10 pro is no longer activated. in the settings / activation area it simply tells me I do not have a valid licence key. The troubleshooter tells me it just cannot activate I shall
contact the system admin.

I upgraded to windows 10 pro from windows 8 for free when there was the offer back then. so I never bought win10 pro but as I sad I got it as a gift (thanks!) but now they took the gift away ("thanks"!).

Question now: Is there any way to reactivate my windows copy ? its pretty harsh to punish me for a mainboard change by takin away my licence that I formerly owned (when I get a gift its my property then, right?)
