Windows 10: Can't adjust display brightness Windows 10

I got a new Acer laptop less than a week ago, and installed all of the Windows 10 updates. After that, I found I was no longer able to adjust the screen brightness using the keyboard or anything I can find in Settings.


I have read some other threads about how people solved this issue, but none of them have worked for me. If I go into device manager and open "monitors", it only lists "Generic Non-PNP Monitor". I'm not sure if this is normal, but I'm really unsure about what to do next and my screen is just too bright!

edit: I also thought I would mention that I have tried to change the size of my display from 100% to 150% in Scale and layout and have had some issues with that. Some applications or images appear blurred. I'm not sure if these issues are connected but just want to supply as much detail as possible

and check if it helps you.

Uninstall and Reinstall the graphics card drivers

If that doesn't help uninstall and reinstall latest graphic driver from manufacturer's website.

Note: Update all the drivers and also install all the pending updates and check.

Step 2: After installing and Updating refer the below steps to check how to automatically adjust the brightness.

• Press Windows + I keys and select System.
• Select Display and check the Adjust brightness automatically
• Restart the machine.

• Were you able to see any error message/ error code with this issue?
• Have you tried to install all the pending updates for drivers and Windows Updates on your device?
