Windows 10: Cant backup Desktop, Documents and Pictures using Windows 10 File History

Windows 10 backup is not allowing me to backup my documents, desktop and pictures folders from "This PC". These folder are already backed up in OneDrive, but I want to create a differential backup so I can search back in time.


I try to "add folder" in Settings > Backup > Backup Options >Back up these folders, but it does not appear on the list of folders to be backed up.


My default backup location is OneDrive because C:\Users\User\ folders do not sync with OneDrive.


How can I back these up so I can search for older backups?

Backup These Folders in File History

My Pictures and My Videos folders are inside the My Documents folder. In File History all three folders are listed in the Backup These Folders list. Does this mean that because of this, files in Pictures and Videos are backuped twice? Once when backing up
My Documents and once when backing up My Pictures and My Videos (included in My Documents)

I have just set up a new PC running Windows 10.

I have decided to use File History to backup my files.

I am using a 32GB USB Drive.

I have set the options to backup "Daily" and "Keep files for 12 months"

I have chosen "Documents" and "Pictures" to backup.

When the backup starts it tells me the total backup size will be 10.2 GB yet the size of the Documents and Pictures folder according to Windows Explorer properties is only 1.3 GB.

Why is the File History backup so much larger?
