Can't cancel update of driver for non-existent device

After a power surge on my neutral line, I lost the ability to control one of my printers. I eventually took the printer to e-waste recycling, but did not immediately uninstall it from the system. Now, Windows 10 Update keeps trying to update the driver and warning me that the update failed. There is no option to do anything with this update except keep clicking Retry, which attempts to do something, but aborts too quickly to be able to screen capture the details. How do I get out of this?PS - this question was asked by somebody else back in 2015. It has 46 "Me Too" clicks. It was never ans

    Activity Reporting error non-existent device

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that a non-existent device is showing in the activity reporting. As you have mentioned that you have removed the device from Manage device limits for all family accounts, I suggest you to try removing the device from the child account
and check if that helps. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Login to
      https://login.live.com
      with the child account.
    2. Click on Devices.
    3. Click on show details for the device that is non-existing.
    4. Click on More actions.
    5. Click on Remove PC.
    6. Click on I’m ready to remove this PC and click on
      Remove.

    Hope it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.

  3. How to remove non-existent device permanently?

    Hi,

The drivers for your Touchpad is still installed in your PC that's why the device keeps reappearing. You may need to uninstall Touchpad in Device Manager. But since it doesn't appear in Device Manager, we suggest checking the hidden devices. Please follow
the troubleshooting steps shared by Vikrant Yadav on this
    link
    .

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.

    Ethernet Driver Non Existant?

    Try here:

    http://www.acer.co.uk/acer/service....ryISOCtxParam=UK&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=3713735360

    Select Notebook > Apsire > 5630

A list of files will be displayed. Above these files, change the filter options to:

Operating system: XP - whatever version you have
After the language box change LATEST to ALL

This will list a number of drivers for the LAN and Wireless.

From there I would download all and try each until one installs correctly.
Extract each zip file into its own directory.
In each zip file there will be a *.inf file.
Go to device manager and look for the yellow ? sysmbol that shows a device with no driver or incorrect driver - this will be your LAN and or Wireless.

Right click on ? > install/update driver > select option to browse to driver > select inf file > ok.

If the 1st fails, try the 2nd and so on.

Sorry if this is not 100% accurate, but its all from memory *Slap :slap:
